There are a variety of funding resources for students who are pursuing internships and other forms of experiential education. This list, while not comprehensive, gives a good starting point for exploring funding from both UNC and non-UNC sources.

University Career Services (UCS)

University Career Services partners with UNC donors and the Office of Scholarships & Student Aid to provide funding support to students participating in professional development experiences such as internships, professional conferences, networking events and more.

Graduate Student Funding Information Center

Search multiple funding opportunities such as fellowships, scholarships and stipends that support research, scholarly activities, travel and service work for UNC Students.

Other UNC-CH Resources

UCS C-STEP Internship Stipend

All C-STEP students currently enrolled at UNC-CH, returning for the fall 2023 semester, and who have obtained an unpaid internship or will partake in an unpaid experiential learning (study abroad, internship, research, volunteer service) experience. Preference will be given to C-STEP students with graduation dates no sooner than December 2023.

APPLES Service Learning

APPLES Service-Learning is a student-led program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill that transforms educational experiences by connecting academic learning and public service. Since 1990, APPLES has strengthened civic engagement by bringing together students, faculty and communities in sustained and mutually beneficial partnerships.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

DAAD is the world’s largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and researchers. Since it was founded in 1925, more than 1.9 million scholars in Germany and abroad have received DAAD funding. DAAD supports the internationalization of German universities, promotes German studies and the German language abroad, assists developing countries in establishing effective universities and advises decision makers on matters of cultural, education and development policy.
