The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program

The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program was designed to promote greater diversity and excellence in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State. This six-week summer program provides undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers. Sophomores and above. The Program covers the costs for tuition, travel, housing, and two meals per day. It also provides a stipend of $3,200.

International Politics Oxford Summer School

A two-week residential summer school tackling the vital issues that shape politics in the modern world with a regional focus providing in depth analysis of key countries in regions outside of Western Europe and North America – Africa, China, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, and Russia and the Former Soviet Union. This program includes a daily lecture program given by world-renowned academics.

UNC – IREU Ecuador

Deadline: March 29th. The Carbonshed Lab at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for International Research Experiences for Undergraduates (IREU) during the summer 2019 and the academic year 2019-2020. Up to four paid positions are available to outstanding undergraduate students interested in gaining field and lab experience in hydrological and ecological processes. Upon their return to the U.S., students will participate in outreach activities with the Museum of Life and Sciences in Durham, NC, and be supported through a researchintensive, year-long program focusing on increasing their chance to succeed in STEM

Medical-Anthropology Expedition

Himalayan Health Exchange organizes a medical and cultural anthropological expedition to the Indian Himalayas every summer. In order to enhance the learning experience of participants, this medical-anthropological expedition will also include socio-cultural and religious teachings of the Western Himalayas with daily yoga and meditations sessions. HHE will offer participants a practical approach to the study of India, Tibet and the Himalayan culture while attending a 6-day, preventive health camp.

Olympia Summer Academy

The Olympia Summer Academy (OSA) and the European International Studies Association (EISA)are pleased to announce a unique educational opportunity for graduate students, researchers, young professionals and senior undergraduates: the 2019Olympia Summer Academy in Politics and International Studies, an intensive summer school in comparative and international politics. The 18th Olympia Summer Academy will take place from July 7 until July 16, 2019, in Nafplion in southeastern Greece.

SABLA Summer Arabic Language Immersion

The Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center’s Sabla Program is an intensive summer language program designed to benefit current university-level students and recent graduates. The program offers courses at four different levels: Advanced Beginning, Low Intermediate, High Intermediate and Advanced. The program emphasizes the instruction of Modern Standard Arabic or MSA (fusha).

SRAS and Novamova- Continuing Education Abroad: Georgia and Ukraine

SRAS Georgian Foodways: Global Pathways/Local Contexts

The country of Georgia is your classroom. Your time will be spent traveling its breathtaking landscapes, while cooking, eating, talking, and experiencing the connection between identity and culinary tradition. You will spend two weeks using a variety of critical, interdisciplinary approaches to explore issues like climate change, state agricultural policies, food security, the place of food in social justice and ethnic identity, and how food and identity can help drive tourism development. This course is for anyone who wants to understand how truly important food is to the human experience.

ARIT Summer Fellowships for Advanced Turkish Language 

ARIT Summer Fellowships for Advanced Turkish Language in Istanbul offers intensive advanced study of Turkish at Bogazici University during the summer 2020. Participants must have two years of Turkish language study or the equivalent. The fellowships cover round-trip airfare to Istanbul, application and tuition fees, and a maintenance stipend. The application deadline will be in early February, 2020.

Hudson Institute Political Studies 2020 Summer Fellowship 

The Hudson Institute Political Studies 2020 Summer Fellowship is open to all undergraduates, including graduating seniors. Students participate free of charge, are given complimentary accommodations, and receive a $3,000 stipend. The fellowship will be held from June 15 – July 25, 2020 at Georgetown University and Hudson Institute, in Washington, D.C.

The Summer Fellowship involves:

  • Rigorous seminars led by master teachers on week-long topics in political theory and public policy;
  • Policy workshops led by think tank experts and experienced government officials; and
  • A distinguished speaker series featuring national leaders from government, business, journalism, the military, and the academy offering insights on public service, pressing issues, and enduring political questions.

Apply to be a UNC McNair Scholar

The Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program is a federal TRiO program designed to prepare undergraduate students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. The mission of the McNair Program is to provide underrepresented students, as well as students from low-income and first-generation backgrounds, with the preparation needed to succeed in graduate school. Scholars receive up to $5,000 to complete a summer research program and are expected to apply to graduate programs.
