BeAM Program Assistant
Be A Maker @Carolina (BeAM) is a groundbreaking initiative to offer free training and access to cutting edge technology for all UNC students, staff and faculty. BeAM Program Assistants will learn to safely and effectively use makerspace equipment and software and in turn train users (students, staff, and faculty from across campus) in best practices and safety for use of the makerspace equipment. BeAM Program Assistants will provide general assistance, skill-set based fabrication process advice, technical consultations, and problem-solving assistance for patrons. The Direct Action and Research Training Center, or DART, is a national network of 21 affiliated grassroots, nonprofit, congregation-based community organizations. DART organizations bring people together across racial, religious and socioeconomic lines to pursue justice in their communities.
The Site Coordinator (SC) is a key member and front-line administrator of each DukeEngage site. The SC’s primary responsibilities are to mentor program participants; support faculty/staff site leader(s); serve as the liaison between students, DukeEngage program leaders, and community partners; and coordinate service, social, cultural enrichment, and recreational activities and reflection sessions in consultation with program participants.

MA STUDENTS. The Writing Center seeks enthusiastic, student-centered graduate students to join our diverse staff as academic writing coaches. Coaches are classified as teaching assistants. Writing Center coaches work with writers one-on-one, contribute to weekly staff meetings, participate in ongoing training, and join in other Writing Center activities for 15 fixed, consistent hours per week.
The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation offers one two-year, paid fellowship (beginning July 1) to an individual who demonstrates an interest in philanthropy, public policy, community service and/or the nonprofit sector. This position is salaried and includes benefits. The fellow acquires increasing responsibility over the course of two years in evaluating grant proposals, visiting with grant applicants, assisting with grantmaking administration, working on projects of importance to the Foundation, and providing additional support to Foundation staff as needed. Through the grant process and related programs, the fellow gains experience with nonprofit organizations, public policy, Foundation trustees and other leaders across North Carolina. Each fellow has the opportunity to assist in furthering projects related to the current focus areas of the Foundation. The fellowship is structured to enable the fellow to further explore areas that are of interest to his or her professional development and that align with the Foundation’s goals, mission and vision.
Race Forward is hiring a part-time local coordinator for their 2020 Facing Race: A National Conference, to be held in Raleigh, November 12-14, 2020. Facing Race is the largest national, multiracial, intergenerational, and multi-issue gathering of advocates, activists, educators, journalists, artists, policymakers and researchers building toward racial justice. This convening provides space to learn new racial justice skills, strategies, successful policy, and organizing initiatives. The conference anticipates about 4,000 attendees.
