Graduating this winter and looking for post-graduate plans?
Looking to commit the Spring semester to serving the children of Latin America?
Interested in Latin American Studies and looking to examine theories via field experience?
Want to brush up on or perfect your Spanish?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above, read on! In partnership with Ministries of Education and local organizations, WorldTeach volunteers serve in 6 Latin American countries: Guyana, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Panama. While volunteers in Guyana teach math and science, volunteers in the Chile Patagonia Sur Year (different from Chile program) teach environmental studies, and those in the remaining programs teach English at various levels. The majority of the programs depart in Jan or Feb of 2013, with the exception of Guyana which departs in August. Our programs vary in length, allowing volunteers to choose among summer, semester, and year-long programs. Those who are interested in pursuing a career in teaching abroad might also be interested in participating in our accredited TEFL certification program. WorldTeach is a well-established NGO founded in 1986 by a group of Harvard students who were motivated by the desire to promote education at the local level in places where teachers and resources were lacking. Each year, we send about 500 volunteers, impassioned by that same desire, to the local schools and the host communities in developing countries around the world that have specifically requested our support. Since our inception, we have placed over 5,000 volunteers, providing them with teacher training, language preparation, and field support, empowering them to affect lasting change on the community they work with so that their influence will survive their experience. Fully and partially funded programs available for year-long and semester programs.
