UndocuCarolina: Writing Our Own- Storytelling and Immigrant Hope in an Era of Disillusionment
March 9 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
UndocuCarolina is an initiative of UNC humanistic faculty, students, staff, and community partners working together to increase visibility, support, and resources for members of the Carolina community whose lives are affected by undocumented status. We are expanding our program by building student centered initiatives and projects. We hope to hear directly from students interested in learning more about and/or participating in these events and projects. Current project ideas include networking events with Allies on campus, job fairs for undocu/DACAmented students, one-on-ones with attorneys, and so on. If you know of any students who may be interested, please share this message with them. If they have any questions, they can reach out to the UndocuCarolina Student Engagement Coordinator, Jatzyri Perez Garcia (firstname.lastname@example.org). Student participants are eligible to receive stipend compensation for their participation in certain activities.
In addition, UndocuCarolina would like to invite you to our upcoming event, “Writing Our Own: Storytelling and Immigrant Hope in an Era of Disillusionment” in collaboration with the UNC Department of English and Comparative Literature and the Latina/o Studies Program.
Journalist/Law Student Jesús Rodríguez and UndocuCarolina’s Jatzyri Perez Garcia and Rubi Franco Quiroz discuss the power of storytelling for communicating the challenges faced by the undocumented in America.
The event will be held on March 9th at 5:30pm. Register at go.unc.edu/WritingOurOwn
