Pear Hacks is an all-female hackathon aimed towards creating an encouraging environment for women of all skill levels to pursue their interests in technology. For 24 hours, attendees will be able to participate in building projects with peers and mentors about any and all topics that are of interest. Whether you are a master in heels and Java or have yet to write your first “Hello World” program, women of all experience levels from both high school and college are welcome. This event is hosted by the Pear Hacks Organizing Committee, a group of women majoring in computer science at UNC. This year’s event will be held at the Genome science building, and is completely free. Food will be served, and those who register before March 15th are guaranteed a free T-shirt. Those who register after March 15 may still attend, but food will be delegated to those who registered early.
