Tournées Film Festival: ‘Hiroshima Mon Amour’ (France, 1959)

FreeThis film screening is presented as part of the Tournées Film Festival, sponsored by the Department of Romance Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In Hiroshima Mon Amour, she is a French actress visiting Hiroshima to make a film; he is her married lover, a former Japanese soldier whose family was killed the day the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on the city. While the two reflect on the horrors of wartime, they begin to debate the very unreliability of memory.
All movie screenings in the festival will take place in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium of the FedEx Global Education Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the movie begins at 6:30 p.m. These screenings are free and open to the public. All films will be shown in French with English subtitles.
The festival is co-sponsored by the Center for European Studies and the Department of Asian Studies.
