“The Road from New Bern: Lessons from the Life of an Intelligence Officer.”

Born in a small town near New Bern, North Carolinian, Mr. Jones has had a remarkable career which has taken him all over the world.  He is currently the Deputy Director of Intelligence for the  U.S. Transportation Command and as such is responsible for the assessment of threats to global mobility operations and the  development of supporting intelligence production plans and collection priorities.  Earlier in his career he served in various intelligence and operational assignments within the military – ranging from the tactical to national levels.  After retiring as a Colonel, he went on to serve as Senior Civilian and Technical Director for the U.S. Coast Guard, Intelligence Coordination Center (ICC) and then as Chief of Watchlisting and the Identity Intelligence Program Office within the Defense Intelligence Agency.  Any student who is considering a career in government, or is just trying to figure out what to do after graduation, is warmly encouraged to attend.
