Public Health Leadership Networking Opportunity: Teleconference

January 29, 2016 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

FREE
Student / Alumni Gathering
3:30-5 PM, Friday, January 29, 2016
Please join us for the first 2016 installment in our continuing series of Student/Alumni “Gatherings.” Next Friday’s event will feature conversations spurred by the work of two of our current Health Care and Prevention students, Kate Magee Abraham and Pooja Jani.
Kate will be sharing her experiences living and working in a refugee and immigrant resettlement community, with particular attention to the social conditions influencing refugee health and the need for collaboration in serving this population.  Kate is interested in serving international populations through primary care, both stateside and internationally.
Kate will be joined by Parisa Alinezhad, who is from Iran and lived for two years in Turkey before coming to the US with her husband and now-4-year-old daughter.  Parisa will talk about her experiences in all three countries.
We will also have the opportunity to talk with Pooja Jani, MD, a second-year Preventive Medicine resident who will be outlining a potential project that would include the building of an international educational portal for ophthalmologists.
Both discussions promise to be invigorating, and we’ve reserved Room 2306 in McGavran-Greenberg Hall so, thanks to the capabilities of the Blue Jeans video conferencing service, participants will be able to join in these conversations from anywhere in the world.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend, and indicate whether you’ll be on-site or online, to help us with our planning (refreshments will be served).  We look forward to seeing you this week.
