NATO and Its Challenges: A German and an American View

March 2 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) faces considerable challenges in its seventh decade, including Russian aggressiveness in Ukraine and populist movements in the member states. How will the alliance adapt and meet these new challenges? This panel draws on perspectives from senior American and German leaders about the future of the Atlantic Alliance, including Lt. General (ret.) Ben Hodges, former commander in chief of the U.S. Army in Europe, and Kapitän zur See Ivo Schneider, Embassy Washington.

Navin Bapat, chair of the Curriculum in Peace, War and Defense, will moderate a discussion along with Ambassador Barbara Stephenson, Carolina’s vice provost for global affairs.

This event is sponsored by Carolina’s Curriculum in Peace, War and Defense and the N.C. Zeitgeist Foundation.
