Namibian Democracy 25 Years after Independence

2015 Douglass Hunt Lecture: Namibian Democracy 25 Years After Independence
A panel discussion, entitled “Namibian Democracy 25 Years After Independence,” will take place on Monday, April 13 at 5 p.m. in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium in the FedEx Global Education Center and will be preceded by a reception at 4:30 p.m. in the James and Florence Peacock Atrium. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill community will welcome special guests to honor the 25th anniversary of Namibian independence. Panelists will include Namibian ambassador to the United States Martin Andjaba, founder of The Namibian and chairperson of the Namibia Media Trust Gwen Lister and Cassandra Butts, UNC ’87, senior adviser to the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation and the United States Ambassador-Designate to the Bahamas. This 2015 Douglass Hunt Lecture is organized by the Carolina Seminars Program. Speakers will share their reflections on Namibian history, politics and the process of democratization.
The event is free and open to the public.
