Loukas Tsoukalis, “The Greek and European Crisis”

20160209_Loukas-Tsoukalis-179x250Loukas Tsoukalis was born in Athens in 1950. He studied economics and international relations at the University of Manchester, the College of Europe in Bruges and the University of Oxford where he obtained his doctoral degree. He taught for many years at Oxford University, and later became a professor at the European Institute of the London School of Economics and Political Science. He also taught at the European University Institute in Florence and at Sciences Po in Paris. Tsoukalis is a former special adviser to the president of the European Commission and member of the High Level Group of the European Commission on the Modernisation of Higher Education.

He is currently a professor of European Integration at the University of Athens and president of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP). He is also a visiting professor at King’s College, London and the College of Europe, Bruges, and a member of advisory councils and think tanks in several European countries.
