Global Studies Alumni Google Hangout

November 10, 2015 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Interested in what different career/life pathways you can take with a degree in Global Studies? Starting to think about the skills/tools you need to develop for your desired occupation and how to market yourself to potential employers?

Join us Tuesday, November 10th from 5-7pm on the 4th floor of the FedEx Global Education Center as we hear from 3 outstanding Global Studies alumni about their experiences at UNC and how it helped to prepare them for subsequent career and educational opportunities. These alumni now work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Harvard Business School, and KIPP Nashville College Prep, respectively. While they have had different trajectories since leaving UNC, they will share some common experiences and themes around the following questions:

  • What was your educational and career path to your current position?
  • Would you have done anything differently?  What career advice would you give your younger self?
  • What trends do you see in your field?
  • What do you/your organization like to see as employers?
  • What skills in job applicants really impress you and why?
  • What do you think your field will look like in 5 years and what kind of professional will be needed to meet the upcoming challenges?

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday at 5pm!
