Global Project Showcase

Want to travel while you’re at UNC? Looking to fund a global project? Enjoy a showcase of students’ research, experiences and travel stories from a variety of fields and global destinations.

Learn more about past global experiences the Center for Global Initiatives has funded from the students themselves. Dinner will be provided.

This session will feature the following student speakers:

TRACEY SPAUGH: Global Studies & Public Policy double major
– Passport to Go! recipient and Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellow who spent the summer in an immersive language program studying and practicing Arabic.

TAHJ WARREN: Global Studies major
– Carolina Global Initiative Award recipient who traveled to Tokyo, Japan to further develop her Japanese language skills. For the duration of the program, she lived with a host family, participated in cultural activities, and took two group excursions to create an entirely immersive global experience.

DONALD SANTACATERINA: PhD student in the Department of History
– Pre-Dissertation Exploration Award recipient who traveled to Beijing, China this summer to conduct research on the People’s Daily newspaper and its role in socialist information networks of the 20th century.
