“Exploring the Effects of an Integrated Approach to Improving Family Economic Security and Supporting Child Development”

The FPG Child Development Institute will offer a talk by Prof. Gina Chowa (Social Work, UNC) titled, “Exploring the Effects of an Integrated Approach to Improving Family Economic Security and Supporting Child Development.” Dr. Chowa is the Associate Dean for Global Engagement and Director of Global Social Development Innovations at UNC School of Social Work. She conducts research on global social development, particularly the intersection of economic security, workforce development, social protection and financial inclusion and its impact on the well-being of vulnerable and marginalized populations in the Global South. Her research focuses on employing rigorous methodology to examine causal relationships between holistic economic security interventions and well-being of children, youth, and their families in low-resource communities.
