Gerald E. Galloway: “Engineering and Natural Hazards Risk Management: Emerging Challenges and Opportunities”

Gerald E. Galloway is a Glenn L. Martin Institute Professor of Engineering with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and an Affiliate Professor in the School of Public Policy, at the University of Maryland. Dr. Galloway joined UMD’s faculty following a 38-year career in the U.S. Army, retiring as Brigadier General. He is the former Dean of the faculty and academic programs at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and former Dean of the academic board at the United States Military Academy at West Point. In 1993 and 1994 he was assigned to the White House to lead an interagency study of the causes of the Great Mississippi River Flood of 1993 and to make recommendations concerning the nation’s floodplain management program.
