Dakota Access Pipeline Information Session
September 29, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
The Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) threatens to contaminate the Missouri River, a major source fresh water for millions. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe did not consent to DAPL crossing treaty territory. An environmental impact statement was not properly conducted. Thousands of unarmed water protectors have created a prayer camp near DAPL construction. North Dakota declared a state of emergency and has deployed the National Guard north of the prayer camp. Highway Patrol has arrested over 60, including journalists.
At this information session, speakers will discuss the environmental risks of DAPL, explore issues of tribal sovereignty, and share updates directly from water protectors.
