Burned: Are Trees The New Coal? – Documentary Film Screening
September 27, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
The award-winning documentary film “BURNED: Are Trees the New Coal” takes a hard look at the latest false solution to climate change: woody biomass. The film tells the story of how biomass companies, like Enviva, have hidden behind green labels and become the alternative-energy savior for the power-generation industry. It is a visceral account of the accelerating destruction of our forests for fuel. Our forests and communities here in North Carolina are at risk, and it’s up to us to step up.
On Thursday, September 27th, join BURNED filmmaker Chris Hardee, Dogwood Alliance, and local partners for a screening and discussion about what can be done to stop this madness. Doors open at 6:30pm and the film starts at 7pm.
The suggested donation is $5, and all proceeds go to supporting frontline communities in need who are facing the impacts of Hurricane Florence. http://www.ncwarn.org/hurricane-florence-relief-fund/
