Ben Jealous: The Forgotten Origins and Consequences of Race

April 11, 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The Executive Branch of Student Government and the Campus Y would like to invite you to attend the keynote speaker for our speaker series to commemorate the 50th anniversary of UNC’s Speaker Ban Law. Benjamin Jealous, former president of the NAACP, is one of the nation’s preeminent civil rights leaders, and will be speaking at Memorial Hall on Monday, April 11th, at 5:30PM.

His talk, “The Forgotten Origins and Consequences of Race in the United States”, will tell the story behind lessons learned and unlearned in America’s history, and what we all need to internalize if we aim to create a country where children are judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin.
