A program celebrating the opening of Being and Belonging: Perspectives in North Carolina, an art exhibition at the FedEx Global Education Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will be held on Oct. 5. Programming will begin at 5:30 p.m., with remarks starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Florence and James Peacock Atrium. Each artist has been invited to speak about their work.
Being and Belonging brings together 13 artists of Latin American heritage from across North Carolina whose work evokes questions of identity, environment and home. The exhibition will be on display through Dec. 12.
With over 25 works of art that range in theme, medium and tone, Being and Belonging harnesses the vast story-telling potential of visual art. The featured artists are: Antonio Alanís, Tina Alberni, Adriana Ameigh, Georges Le Chevallier, Gabriela Costas, Alexandre Emmanuel, Lina Fernández Giraldo, Gloribel Irizarry, Leandro Manzo, Peter Marín, Renzo Ortega, Alexander Lee Quiñonez and Tina Vasquez.
