International Focus, Incorporated is a nonprofit, membership organization based in Raleigh, N.C. Through the International Festival, IF aims to support multiculturalism, and diversity within the research triangle area through a wide range of activities.
The International Focus, Inc. also provides services to international visitors sponsored by the United States Department of State, other federal agencies, private organizations and foreign governments. The focus of the position is to assist in planning and organizing international exchanges programs of international visitors who are assigned to visit Raleigh through the U.S. Department of State or other, non-governmental sources.

JOB TITLE
Programming Intern/ Associate
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES INCLUDES SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING
- Administrative support, such as: answering phones, helping with mailings, welcoming Visitors, filing programs
- Contact local resources to arrange professional meetings for international participants
- Research professional resources and current cultural events in Research Triangle Area
- Prepare local programs and welcome packets
- Assist with International Focus Newsletter
- Assist with social media
- Assist with database entry
- Assist with proposals for upcoming programs
- Meet with International Visitors whenever possible (great opportunity to network with North Carolina professionals and international leaders)
- Help design and plan for IF socials and community events
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Intern will work under the direct supervision of the Program Director.
NUMBER OF HOURS REQUIRED
Flexible 9-12 hours/week
*Internship is not compensated.
*Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (some hours may be required on weekends and/ or evenings according to programming needs).
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Independent worker with strong initiative, communication and analytical skills
- Articulate and gracious with diplomatic manners (important to interact with office staff, international visitors and professionals)
- Dependable, detail-oriented and responsible
- Computer skills
- Able to multitask in a fast paced setting (from basic to complex tasks)
- A good sense of humor is a plus!
TRAINING
- Orientation to goals and operation of IF with program director
- On-the-job training with the program director and program associate
